Get ready, football fans! The CIF Southern Section playoffs kicked off with a bang last Friday, and it was a wild ride! 108 games were played, and there were some amazing moments and a few surprises along the way.
Top Teams Clash!
Some of the top-ranked teams in Southern California went head-to-head, and it was intense!
- Santa Margarita Eagles Soar! The Eagles (#7) were unstoppable against Inglewood (#10), winning 59-26! Quarterback John Gazzaniga threw five touchdowns, with Jack Junker and Trent Mosley making some incredible catches in the end zone.
- Sierra Canyon Trailblazers Blaze a Trail! They took down Servite (#9) with a score of 38-14. This sets up a huge game next week against the top team in the division, Mater Dei!
Division 2 Goes Down to the Wire!
- Murrieta Valley Wins a Nail-Biter! In a game that had everyone on the edge of their seats, Murrieta Valley squeaked past Rancho Cucamonga 49-42. Both teams brought their best offense, and it was a shootout!
- Los Alamitos Griffins Grab a Second Chance! After getting a wildcard spot in the playoffs, Los Alamitos made the most of it, beating Leuzinger 36-22. They were down in the fourth quarter but came back strong to win!
Division 3 Goes Down to a Field Goal!
- Crean Lutheran Saints Stun Millikan! This was a shocker! Crean Lutheran beat the Moore League champs, Millikan, with a last-second field goal by Connor Stephens! The final score was 20-17, and now the Saints will face Loyola in the next round.

Next week, get ready for an epic rematch! Santa Margarita will take on St. John Bosco. Bosco won their first meeting 13-0, but this time, anything could happen!
